I’m absolutely thrilled with how this looks finished! I put about 4 layers of cotton batting on before I put the fabric on. I decided to use one of my favorite patterns, Equinox by Blank Textiles, since I had a bolt of this bright pink that I haven’t used up yet. I think it’ll hide a lot of the dirt, and if it doesn’t I can always put something else on it! I probably could have done this cheaper by getting a shelving unit for $20-30, but I already use these storage tubs and cubes in my office. It made sense to expand the space for the tubs. Total I spent under $200 for the cubes and plywood. The batting and fabric was already here and I didn’t need to buy any. I think I emptied half of my batting tub on this! I was going to use some hi-loft poly batting, but thought it might melt and I should use cotton instead. I can’t wait to start using it!

So Excited!
I saw this on someone’s blog and pinned it on Pinterest so I could find it later. I told hubby recently that I wanted to make one because my ironing board SUCKS and is probably 20 years old (inherited it when hubby and his brother moved out of the apartment). He was in my office the other day and we talked about it and he asked me if I could just put it on top of my Super Satchel Cubes. I have my printer on top of the 2 sets (2 on top of each other) that I have now so we had said we’d order more next month after he gets paid. I went looking at prices from the 2 stores I know sell them and found out that Joann’s has a sale going on and they were 40% off! So I ordered them yesterday, using a free shipping coupon from the iPhone app, and they should be here in a week or so. Then we’ll just need to get the plywood and batting and I’ll be all set with a new ironing station and a bunch more storage! Which is fine since I wanted to get some more storage boxes anyway, I love the ArtBin Storage boxes. It might also help me get some stuff off my sewing table and put away!
What’s New?
Hmmm…..I’ve been working on Xmas presents for the last few days, trying to get things completed so I’m not rushed at the last minute. Unfortunately I can’t post any pictures of things I’m making for Xmas! While I had things running on the embroidery machine today, I made a scrap sack for next to my machine. It only takes 2 fat quarters, and I have no idea where I found the outside fabric! I picked up the pattern at Hearthside Quilt Shoppe in Kidron over the weekend. It’s an Oceanlake Designs pattern. I had some issues with understanding what I was supposed to be doing – the instructions just didn’t seem that clear to me. But it’s finished, and I’m already thinking of more I should make – 1 for the embroidery machine, 1 for my chair in the family room……*sigh*
I’m not sure if I’ll have any pictures for the next couple of days, tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I haven’t decided what I’ll take to work on in the afternoon – if I can work on it at all!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
Something Other Than Dear Jane!
Just a quick note, I have 8 more DJ blocks done, but I’m not posting about them right now! My husband and my sister-in-law are going ghost hunting this weekend at the Mansfield prison – yes I did say ghost hunting! Last time they went I made a bag for my husband to carry all his “tools” in so nothing got lost. Of course, my sister-in-law wanted one too! Since their trip is so close I figured I’d better get it done!
Do you remember when I posted this quilt?
Well I decided to enter it into a quilt competition at Quilting Gallery. Please vote for mine when it’s time for voting!!!
I’ll be back soon with more DJ blocks!!!
