Well, it’s a new year and I’ve already completed a quilt top! 🙂 I wanted to sew today, but didn’t feel like working on a UFO (Unfinished Object) so I decided to do something new. I found a pattern for a quilter’s sudoku quilt that I had kept from a magazine subscription request that came in the mail and decided it’d be quick and perfect for today! Another plus was that the block size was 4.5″ square and I had that die for my Accuquilt Go! It was so nice and quick to cut the blocks out with the Go – and they are so much more accurate! There was a small pile of waste, but I cut out 81 blocks in less than an hour out of 9 fabrics! It went together pretty quickly, just had to pay close attention to where each block went.

I can now finally post pictures of all the Xmas presents I made this year. I started working on these in September and was working until a few days before Xmas to get them framed. Luckily my mom helped me get them done (thanks Mom!).

Georgia and Brennan are my niece and nephew in Florida – theirs had to be completed first since they had to be shipped. I couldn’t find a frame the right size, so I had to finish hers differently.

My sister is a teacher at a day care, so hers was an easy choice. The rest are for my cousin’s little girl, my sister’s best friends little girl and my best friends little girl.

I also made some items for my father-in-law and his wife, and when my mom saw the banner, I had to make one for her – along with the hot pad trivet I made her. Oh and I can’t forget the only quilt I made for a present this year for Angela – our friend in Wisconsin that owns a bakery. The white fabric has little cupcakes on it and the backing is all coffee cups.

After a long time, I’ve finally gotten something off of my todo list!  I’ve taken some time off of work and in the first week, I was able to get 2 quilts done, 1 from the todo list and 1 that I’ve been wanting to do!  I finally bit the bullet and worked on the stained glass hearts.  That bias tape is a pain to work with!  But I’m glad it’s finally finished, it will hang in our bedroom.

I was also able to start and finish (in 2 days) my Xmas cross stitch wall hanging.  I even mitered the corners of the borders – which I’ve NEVER done before.  I thought it would look better because of the attic window blocks.  To my surprise I only had to unstitch 1 corner and redo because I didn’t have the angle right.  I think it looks pretty good though!

I also managed to get a shelf stained and hung up.  I have bins for my 1 1/2″ and 2 1/2″ strips and 2″ squares.  It’s over my cutting station so it will be easy to throw the strips in it when I’m cutting fabric.

Not much  more to update this week, we’ll see what I get accomplished in the coming week!

Well I got Spring Quilts back from the framer.  It looks great!  I wasn’t happy with the price for framing, but it was worth it for how good it looks.  I finished Summer Quilts yesterday, mom has it to wash and then I’ll see about getting that one framed.  I was originally going to put each one on the wall in the appropriate season, but now I’m wondering if I should just hang them all together.  We’ll see when I get Summer back from the framer.  I hope to start Autumn in the next week or so. 

I just ordered some fabric for the Xmas wallhanging I’m doing.  I have 8 Xmas cross stitch pictures done – 9th will be started today.  They are all fairly small less than 5 inches square and I’m putting them together into a wallhanging.  I ordered some of the Peppermint Cottage line from Moda from Fat Quarter Shop so that I can start working on it.  I know, it’s early to start something Christmasy, but if I don’t do it now, it won’t be done for Christmas decorating!

I know, I know, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted.  I was busy from the end of March until the beginning of May working on a quilt for the boss at work.  She celebrated 25 years at the company, and in planning the party we decided that I’d make a quilt with areas for everyone to sign.  I think I planned a little too well, as the quilt was huge!!!  Took me a week to quilt it on my Janome and then took 2 days to hand stitch the binding on.  She loved it though!

I’ve also been spending a lot of time working on cross stitch projects.  With working on this quilt for the last couple of months I didn’t want to work on any other quilting projects, so instead I’ve been working on cross stitch quilts 🙂  I found a series of 5 quilts – one for each season plus a holiday one – and ordered the magazines that had the patterns in them.  I have Spring finished, it’s just not framed yet but will be soon.  I’m currently working on Summer and I’m probably 50% done with that one.  It’s nice to be able to sit on the couch and watch tv or movies with the hubby but still be working on a project.  And I have so many cross stitch projects to do!

Hmmmm….I guess that’s about it….I need to get some things made today for the cookout we are having for Memorial Day…..Until next time!
